¿Quién se casó con Juan III de Bretaña?

Juan III de Bretaña, llamado el Bueno (en bretón: Yann III; en francés: Jean III) (8 de marzo de 1286-30 de abril de 1341) fue duque de Bretaña desde 1312 hasta su muerte. Era hijo de Arturo II y de María de Limoges, su primera esposa.

En 1297 se casó con Isabel de Valois, hija mayor de Carlos de Valois.​ Sus abuelos maternos eran Carlos II de Nápoles y Sicilia y María Árpád de Hungría. Su esposa falleció en 1309 sin haberle dado descendencia. Sin embargo se le atribuye la paternidad de Jean Decoud, Duque de Vannes y Signeur de Liziec. En 1310 se casó de en segundas nupcias con Isabel de Castilla (1283-1328), hija de Sancho IV de Castilla y de su esposa, María de Molina. Isabel también falleció sin tener hijos en 1328, con lo que Juan III se volvió a casar en 1329 , esta vez con Juana de Saboya, hija única de Eduardo de Saboya y de Blanca de Borgoña, hermana de la fallecida reina de Francia, Margarita de Borgoña.

En 1295, le duc Jean II de Bretagne, jusqu'alors fidèle du roi Philippe IV de France, avait reçu de son beau-frère le roi Édouard I^er d'Angleterre la charge de capitaine général d'Aquitaine.

Philippe IV le Bel décida la conquête de l'Aquitaine et envoya une armée commandée par son frère Charles, comte de Valois. Jean II ne subit que des revers et, pour sauver son duché à son tour menacé d'invasion dut rompre son alliance avec l'Angleterre et négocier la paix avec la France.

Pour sceller la paix, il fut convenu de marier Jean, petit-fils du duc de Bretagne, avec Isabelle de Valois, la nièce du roi de France. Le mariage eut lieu en 1297, mais Isabelle mourut douze ans plus tard sans avoir eu d'enfants.

Jean devint duc de Bretagne en 1312, et se remaria deux fois, sans avoir d'héritier. Sa mort fut le début de la guerre de Succession de Bretagne.

Isabella of Castile (1283–24 July 1328) was the Queen of Aragon as the first wife of King James II and Duchess of Brittany as the second wife of Duke John III.

Isabella was born in Toro, the eldest daughter of King Sancho IV of Castile and María de Molina. As On 1 December 1291, Isabella married King James II of Aragon in the city of Soria. The bride was only eight years old and the groom twenty-four. The marriage was never consummated.

Sancho IV died on 25 April 1295. James chose to change his alliances and take advantage of the turmoil inside Castile. He had their wedding annulled and proceeded to marry Blanche of Anjou.

Isabella remained unwed for about a decade. In 1310, at Burgos, she married her second husband, Duke John III of Brittany. There were no children from this marriage. She died 24 July 1328, and was buried at Prières Abbey.
